Getting Involved in Our Patch/Catchment Care
The process may look something like this:
  • Contact Our Patch Project Officer, either by filling out and returning the attached free-post return slip, or by
    calling direct.
  • Talk with friends, neighbours, local schools, etc. to see if others want to join in.
  • After meeting with you, the Our Patch Project Officer will talk to the property owner/manager (often the Council)
to explain your interest in the area and hear about any plans they may have, and find out if there are any other
groups already working in the area.
  • With the help of the Our Patch Project Officer, an action plan will be developed which outlines the vision for the
patch, the main problems in the patch, and what can be done about them.
  • To help put the action plan into practice, you will be offered a range of workshops to help give you the skills and
knowledge necessary to start caring for your Patch.
  • If your project involves re-vegetation, the Our Patch Project Officer can provide the materials and training
necessary for you to start propagating the local native plants you will need.
  • Your Our Patch Project Officer will stay in close contact with you, and be available to assist with any aspect of
    the project.
  • Furthermore, if the patch of area you wish to tackle is part of another organisation's management plan, for
example a Council, then the plans of that organisation must also be taken into consideration.
  • Ask about Our Patch funding grants offered by the Onkaparinga Catchment Water Management Board.

Consider involving a number of classes or the whole school in adopting a site or joining in with an existing project.
